By KBJR News 1

The recount is underway for Minnesota's hotly contested Senate race.

Statewide, 15.49 percent of the ballots have been recounted.
As of 8 P.M. Wednesday night, Republican incumbent Norm Coleman holds an approximate 3 percent lead over his Democratic Challenger Al Franken.
Not in the equation...one half of a percent of ballots being challenged by both candidates.
On Wednesday...In St Louis County Senator Coleman picked up one more vote.
Franken picked up 24 votes...and holds a 25-percent lead countywide.
The St. Louis County recount is underway at the court house.
Officials are working diligently to complete the job both quickly and accurately.

"We feel it's been going very smoothly," said Don Dicklich, St. Louis County auditor. " Initially, there's a lot of excitement in the beginning, a lot of people milling around. We've settled down into a routine now and we're used to that, we've seen that happen in the past as well."

This process is expected to last into December.
The Secretary of State's website will update the recount nightly.
