Christmas City of the North Parade preparations are underway across the Northland.

Some Superior high school students rehearsed today for the special holiday tradition.

There's no shortage of holiday cheer for the Superior High School Marching Band.

"I started listening to Christmas music like beginning of November," said Danielle McGraw, a clarinet player in the band.

The band has been practicing for the past two weeks and tomorrow they'll show off what they've learned.

"They're excited about representing our school and our community," said band Director Dan Gucinski.

The band will march to "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" Theme song.

"I liked the arrangement. It's got some great sounds, great chords, great melody, and of course, if you know the story of 'the Grinch,' it's got a very positive message about the whole holiday season," Gucinski said.

The Superior musicians were the first to arrange the NewsCenter's Christmas City of the North Theme Song for band. They've played it in the last two parades.

"Even now some of them, you'll hear a few strains of it coming through the rehearsals now and again because they just took ownership of it when they wrote the arrangement. They're so proud of that," said Gucinski.

The Grinch will be a special guest star, reminding everyone to keep the joy of Christmas alive this holiday season.

The Christmas City of the North Parade begins at 6:20 tomorrow night.

I live in Houston, TX and watch the Christmas City of the North parade over the web. I am originally from the Duluth area and being able to watch the parade makes me feel like I am "back home". I visit Duluth/Superior each summer and still call these cities "home". Thanks for broadcastng this wonderful parade. Patricia

Will this be re-broadcast or placed on the web to view later? Live out of town and work during the parade. Would like to watch it as I have two teens performing in it.
