Franken Almost The Winner

By KBJR News 1

The two- month Minnesota Senate recount is almost done, and things are looking good for Democrat Al Franken.

He pushed his lead over Republican Norm Coleman today with a 225 vote lead.

Franken netted 176 votes more than Coleman in a review of the formerly sealed absentee ballots, after coming in with a 49-vote advantage earlier this week.

Unless Coleman wins a pending court petition that seeks to add hundreds more ballots to the recount the counting is done and a state board can sign off on the results Monday or Tuesday.

Franken's attorney says the candidate is confident there are no more ballots to count and the margin should stand.

But Coleman hasn't ruled out filing a lawsuit challenging the election result claiming there were irregularities that gave Franken an unfair advantage.

Funny how most of the people who weren't smarter than a voting ballot also turned out to be largely Democrats. Hmmmm.
