Fugitive Is Former Duluth Athlete

Kevin Bernard Gregory originally of Cleveland Ohio was apprehended by police after they recieved a tip that Gregory may have been in the Twin Ports.

Gregory was the starting quarterback for the Duluth-Superior Shoremen as well as a former football player at the Hibbing Community College.

Yesterday, acting on a tip, Duluth police arrested 22 year old Kevin Bernard Gregory on a Cuyahoga County Warrant.

Gregory was wanted on nineteen counts of rape, eighteen counts of kidnapping and intimidation of a crime victim or witness.

Sergeant Leigh Wright of the Duluth Police Department says just because someone leaves a city where the crime is alleged to have been committed, it doesn't mean the can escape the long arm of the law.

"We don't want fugitives wandering around in our community and they need to be held accountable for their actions."

Shoremen owner George Booth says Gregory seemed like a nice person and the team had no clue about his alleged transgressions.

Booth goes on to say that Gregory has been suspended by the team, as well as removed from the team's website.

Gregory is currently being held at the St. Louis County Jail, awaiting extradition.

Booth says the team does not currently perform background checks.

Given what we know about his history as a sexual predator in Olmsted County, I suspect that in a few years we will be reading similar news regarding Issac Odim. I hope for the safety of women in Duluth that it is not the case, but these things always seem to follow a pattern of past behavior. At least Gregory, unlike Odim, never had a history of legally being labeled a sexual predator, and thus there were no clear "warning signs". The same cannot be said about Odim.

I personally know Kevin, and I have knowen him for many years, I cant even picture him doing this type of thing. He is not a violent person, even after he got stabbed he didn't do anything evil to get revenge on the man whom stabbed him when he was face to face with him, he just let the law deal with it. I know that this could be a dark side to him that he has never showen, but honestly I dont know much about this case, but I cant picture him doing this. He is a wonderful person.

I checked the Wisconsin sex offender website, and it says George Booth is compliant. There is a term for writing false claims about someone, it's 'libel,' you should look it up.

How sad it is that this man is supposed to be a rapist, but all we consider him to be is an athlete. Come on people, 19 counts of rape!!! Hopefully he gets what he deserves. Too bad the death penalty doesn't cover rape and molestation. Let me tell you, as a victim of both, they may as well have murdered me. At least I wouldn't have to deal with flashbacks and nightmares for the rest of my life.
