A partial blockage in a sewer line caused a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) at 92nd Ave W and Hulett Ave of 4,500 gallons.

Crews from the Utility Operations Division responded to the call and were able to clear a blockage of roots.

Further investigation will be done to determine any additional causes.

The confirmed overflow occurred as follows:

Sanitary Sewer Manhole overflowed started at 7pm 92nd Ave W & Hulett Ave Alley on Tuesday night and ended two hours later.

The State Duty Officer was notified immediately.

Residents should avoid contact with any sewer overflow due to the potential for exposure to disease-causing organisms.

Residents are also asked to report any overflow from a manhole.

Storm sewers and sanitary sewers may lift and move manhole covers creating a dangerous fall hazard when the overflow ceases.

Contact the City of Duluth at 723-4100, 24 hours per day to report overflowing manholes or any open manhole.
