Seven Duluthians have been nominated to receive the 84rd Duluth Hall of Fame Award, to be presented Thursday, May 14th at the Radisson Hotel in the Great Hall.
Here is an alphabetical listing of the nominees with a sampling of their volunteer activities:
Jan Akervik -nominated for service to the Lighthouse for the Blind, reader for the Twin Ports Radio of the Air.
Ralph Bertz- nominated for service to the Duluth Congregational Church Council.
Mary Evans -nominated for service to the Daughters of Liberty Chapter of the Daughters of American Revoluntion, University for Seniors and Duluth Woman’s Club.
Linda Goese- nominated for service to CHUM.
Bill Harrison- nominated for service to the Duluth Skyline Rotary.
Sandi Ralph-Hendrickson- nominated for service to the Leif Erickson Viking Ship Project.
Rosemary Stratioti-nominated for service to the Memorial Day Parade and the American Legion.
The Hall of Fame award ceremonies will begin with a social hour scheduled for 5:00 PM with the program and dinner beginning at 6:00 PM featuring Duluthian Stewart Peterson, star of the documentary “How the Game is Played”.
This local documentary won Best Director of a Documentary and Best Social Documentary at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival in Los Angeles in December 2008.
“How The Game Is Played” is an inspiring true story of identical twin brothers, Stewart & Steven Peterson.
In the 1950`s & 1960`s they participated in hockey and baseball, dedicating themselves to excellence in the breathtaking Northland of Duluth, Minnesota.
