With General Motors in bankruptcy, car dealers across the country have been waiting to hear if they get to keep their contracts to sell G-M vehicles. On Tuesday an Iron Range dealership was told of its fate.
Iron Trail Motors in Virginia was told they would be able to keep selling GM vehicles. Dealer spokespeople say they're actually looking to increase their workforce.
The Virginia car lot says they're breathing a lot easier, knowing their dealership was spared by the higher-ups.
"We're very excited about it," said Travis Peterlin, Iron Trail Motors general manager. "(Tuesday) was a good day for some dealers and not so good of a day for others. We feel very fortunate that we were chosen as one of the key top performers."
Iron Trail currently employs about 30 workers. Spokespeople say the dealership is looking to hire an additional six to nine people within the next year.
On average, Iron Trail Motors says they sell around 1,000 to 1,200 cars each year.
