5 Year Old Grand Rapids Boy Drowns

At approximately 1:30 in the afternoon, A five year old Grand Rapids boy drowned after attempting to lift himself atop a swim raft.

First Responders included the Grand Rapids Police Department, Itasca County Sheriff's Dept. and Med's 1 Ambulance Service.

The boy was retrieved from the water and transported to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital where he later died.

Police will continue to investigate the events leading up to the drowining.
