Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Warm and sunny weather welcomed 500 people as they walked together for stronger, healthier babies at the Duluth March for Babies Saturday, April 27.
The DECC and Lakewalk were host to strollers, families and corporate teams who raised more than $85,000 to help babies be born healthy.
Special guests at the day’s events included the 2013 Duluth Ambassador Family, Nate and Kelly Alvar who formed Team Alvar in memory of their two sons Isaiah and Mason, who passed away due to birth defects and prematurity. They walk in honor of their other two sons Jonas and Elias.
This year, Team Alvar raised more than $21,000 for the March for Babies. To date, they’ve raised more than $85,000.
The top four teams included Team Alvar, UnitedHealth Care, Northland MOPs and St. Luke’s Hospital.
Money raised by the event funds research, education and community programs. This year, the March of Dimes, the leading non-profit organization for maternal and infant health, celebrates its 75th anniversary and its ongoing work to help all babies get a healthy start in life.
