Superior Restaurant Goes Smoke free

By KBJR News 1

On Friday, a Superior restaurant pulled the ashtrays and officially announced it was going smoke free.

The Shack Smokehouse and Grill banned smoking a year of when a new ban is set to go into effect.

Governor Jim Doyle showed up for the occasion and commended the establishment for its decision.

The Shack's owner says a smoke-free business has many benefits.

"In the long-run, I think it's going to help my business," said Doug Dalager, owner of the establishment. " I'm confident (in) the short-run there will be some customers or patrons who don't like my decision."

Next summer, officials say Wisconsin will implement a statewide smoking ban. The Shack still permits smoking in its outdoor seating area.

Don''t think that just passing a ban will get rid of those arrogant lobbyists. Once they find gullible lawmakers, they'll be back for patios later. This is a quote from page seven of the ban lobbyists instruction book. "Tobacco control advocates should work 'from the inside out.' Prior to addressing outdoor restrictions, communities should first have effective smokefree laws for indoor environments. http://www.no-smoke.org/pdf/CIA_Fundamentals.pdf

It's nice to see them using they're Free Right to go smoke free instead of it being mandated to them!
