Drowning Victim May Have Been in Lake For Several Days

By KBJR News 1

St. Louis County authorities are investigating a drowning on Island Lake in Gnesen Township.

Authorities responded to a water emergency call shortly before three Friday afternoon. The St. Louis County Sheriff's department says the body they found is that of a 41-year-old male that may have been in the water for up to three days. They found the body about 300 feet from shore.

"So far there's no sign of foul play, no sign of any crime, or indication of any wrongdoing," said St. Louis County Under Sheriff David Phillips.

The victim's name has not been released. Officials say the next step in the investigation is to notify the victim's family members.

This is the second drowning in the county this month.
