High Fire Risks

By KBJR News 1

Wisconsin officials say the recent spell of warm dry weather might be great for picnicking, but it's increasing fire risks in drier parts of the state.

The Department of Natural Resources says many parts of Wisconsin have been in the 70s.

With rainfall at less than quarter of an inch in some places, some vegetation is more golden than green.

Fire danger levels have been elevated to moderate through much of the state.

Just today, there was a decent sized grass fire near Solon Springs.
Fire officials urge folks to use caution when smoking, grilling, or using campfires.
