Three closely watched Peregrine Falcon chicks in Ashland have fledged from their nest on the Ashland Ore Dock.

DNR Wildlife Biologists say the nest represents the first time peregrines had nested in Ashland. Ironically, the nest was on the Ashland Ore Dock which was slated for demolition within a few days of the discovery of the birds in June. The DNR officials assisted one of the falcons to the top of the ore dock on Monday.

Now that they've all left home, the DNR says its likely crews will begin to demolish the ore dock
