Aside from the nuclear facilities issue, Iran is the subject of another drama stewing that involves Minnesota connections.

Late last July, three American hikers accidentally crossed an unmarked border during a backpacking trip in the mountains of Iraqi Kurdistan.

They have had no contact with their families and have been held captive in Iran since they were originally detained.

Now, their families in the U.S. are organizing a campaign to win their release.

The sister and brother-in-law of detained hiker Shane Bauer coordinated a fundraiser tonight in Duluth to both raise awareness and rally support.

Brother-in-law Nate Lindstrom says, ""We've gotten a lot of support not only from this community, but from all over where the families are from. It's been overwhelming so far."

Just this week, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar joined with other Senators to offer a resolution in the Senate to call for Iran to release the three hikers.
