Across the nation, more than 40 cities and towns joined together to protest the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Duluth was the site of one of those demonstrations.
Ralliers assembled at the Clayton, Jackson, McGhee Memorial downtown and marched to the Duluth Federal Building.
Protesters demand immediate withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
They believe our country should fund domestic human needs and make new jobs instead of war.
While, it's pure coincidence the rally falls on the day that two Minnesota soldiers are being buried, organizers say the men's death makes clear their message.
Colette Knudson with the Northland Anti-War Coalition says, "I think it really brings home the fact that our family and our friends are being asked to risk their lives for a war that can not be won. We do support our troops, we want them home now."
Other demands voiced during the anti-war movement include ending war crimes including torture and providing money for healthcare and housing instead of fighting overseas and corporate bailouts.
The protest was sponsored by the Northland Anti-War Coalition.
