Duluth Police Investigate Hit-And-Run

By KBJR News 1

Duluth Police are investigating a hit and run crash Saturday morning that injured a pedestrian.

Officials say the crash happened at 2:34 A.M. in the 2200-block of Rice Lake Road, just north of Campus Park Townhomes.

Authorities say the 18-year-old male victim was walking south on the shoulder of Rice Lake Road with three other friends when he was struck by a vehicle.

After the crash, police say the vehicle left the scene. The victim was transported to St. Mary's where he is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the vehicle is a SUV, possibly a Honda, black in color. The vehicle will have damage to the passenger side as well as a broken-off mirror.

Anyone with information is asked to call Ryan Morris with the Duluth Police at (218) 730-5655.

I couldn't believe this when i saw it on the news tonight. How could anyone sit at their house knowing that they were the person that hit alex. It sickens me that not that no one has turned themselves in yet. Good luck to the family and alex. I hope you find the person that did this.

I totally agree with one of the previous comments of putting in a sidewalk. Why does it always have to take an accident for the city to realize things need to be re-evaluated? My thoughts and prayers go out to that person and his family. May you get all the justice you deserve and I sure hope they find the incompotent person that did this to your family and I hope they get what they deserve.

this is why they need to put more lights up on that road as well as a sidewalk. The city spent so much money repairing the road, is it really that hard to add a sidewalk so the runners, bikers and walkers dont have to walk on the shoulder? It shouldnt have to take someone getting hurt for this city to realize something needs to change.

There is only running after an incident of this nature. You will be caught. Penalties are in place for people who run. Turn yourself in now and save this family more anguish than they are already experiencing.
