A twist in the on going saga of that now–world famous DWI La–Z–Boy recliner: E–Bay has removed the auction from its website.

At last check this Monday afternoon, the highest bid for the motorized chair was at just more than $43,000 with nearly 100 bids!

The Proctor Police Chief says the listing was pulled earlier today because of trademark concerns from the La-Z-Boy company.
The Chief says things have been sorted out but he is now in the process of having to re-listing the item using a different name.

The Proctor police department and the state of Minnesota will share the winning bid from the chair itself.

Meanwhile, two autographed pictures of the former owner, Dennis Leroy Anderson, 62, are also gaining interest. The high bid for both is up to $300 with more than 30 people bidding. Anderson is also auctioning off the cushion seat for the chair. He says the money will be used to pay fees associated with court costs.

yes i agree that the chair should be taken, but all of us know very well that money is not going to be put to smart use. im sure someone in the proctor police department is getting a healthy bonus!!

Nice to see the chickens come home to roost. Andy and Barney might not get that new radar gun and more speed trap equipment. Nice going PPD.

So most of you think that selling a dumb chair is WORSE than getting a DWI? Just goes to show you what types of backwards thinkers we have here...

at least the money is going to the police department and the state, and that's hopefully something we can all benefit from in some way.

It's really no different than confiscated cars and the like being auctioned off. I mean, for cripes sakes, the Superior police department have a confiscated corvette that they use for a the DARE program.

Seems what Anderson did was wrong (DWI) .. but Police profiting from this unique item seems so wrong as well.. Glad someone stepped in and stopped the listing.
