Victim Of Sawyer Co. Murder Identified

Authorities in Sawyer County have identified the victim of an apparent murder/suicide.

Officials say the body of 43 year old David W. Palm of Birchwood, WI was found Saturday night among the rubble of a burned building.

Around 7:30 Saturday evening the Sawyer County Dispatch Center received a report of a possible structure fire on County Highway F in Edgewater Township in Sawyer County.

It was then that authorities discovered Palm's body.

The nature of the his wounds and evidence located near the body led officers to believe he was the victim of foul play.

After searching through the night for a suspect, the body of another man was found in the ashes of a separate mobile home fire near Spooner.

Evidence recovered at the fire scene leads police to believe the dead man is suspected of killing Palm.

The positive identification of the suspect has not been made and his body has been sent to St. Paul for an autopsy.
