Two Hermantown adults are in custody after a narcotics search warrant was executed today by the Saint Louis County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies acted on a tip that a large pot growing operation was taking place at the Hermantown Residence. When law enforcement arrived they found three adults and two young children amongst an intricate marijuana growing operation.

There were also signs of Meth use inside the house.

Authorities say the pot crop would have been worth $100,000 on the street.

I have no problem with people who smoke green but meth. Another story there. I can deal with pot heads more then meth heads. What a waste

God put pot on this earth for a reason. i think nothing wrong with smoking pot occasionally, only in recreation, but chronic use is harmful.

pot should be legalized and regulated like alcohol. Alcohol is much more dangerous than pot. nobody dies from pot, but thousands die each year from alcohol and its effects

I have plenty of friends in the Northland that use the herb. I'm not from here, but visit semi-frequently. When I am here, however, I do notice that area residents do like their pot more than most other areas that I visit. I don't smoke anymore, but I don't see anything wrong with a little rec use. Chronic users are losers.

I don't see the police going and busting people for brewing beer or wine in their homes. Yes I know pot is illegal but how many problems does alcohol cause? Look at all the problems at the Cozy and other places where people get drunk and do harmful things to others and themselves. I do have to say though that the meth stuff found at the house makes this a little different. That's bad stuff and no kids should be around it. Because of that they should throw the book at these jerks.

You hit it on the head on that one. It "is very harmful to families and society as a whole BECAUSE it is an illegal drug!" The key word is because! As a medical cannabis patient I am in awe of your ignorance. The harm is done not by the cannabis but by people like you. Calling people stupid for choosing a different form of recreational drug or herbal medicine only amplifies that. The real ignorance lies in all the people that like to stereotype everybody. Not all people than use pot are stupid.

Seriously.. get a life and put down the weed for a minute. Pot is very harmful to families and society as a whole because it is an illegal drug! You stupid losers will never learn.

Actually Norml Woman- I have never tried pot nor any other illegal drug for that matter. Growing up my parents instilled strongly how discusting and worthless habits they are and never to do them. Its called proactive parenting. My parents were very strict and for that I am thankful now because I have my B.A. degree, am going on for my M.A. degree-great education and good job. If kids are taught good values and have strict rules, they are less likely to try. So not all kids do it.

I am not saying I approve of the living environment the 2 kids were exposed to. I am saying if it were legal there wouldn’t be a market to support a home grow opp. Statistically my children at some point will try cannabis and when they do I hope it is from a legal quality supplier that doesn’t have meth or other hard drugs offered at the same place or mixed in. Take the money away from the street dealers and put it into our community.

Well when your growing that much your doing it purely for money and as much time as it takes to water 400 plants you could be working a real job. I'm all for leagalization, but just grow 5-10 plants for yourself if you want to smoke it. How can you say this was a waste of tax dollars when there were 2 young children living in that house with the meth too.

Stop arresting people for growing a plant! More families broken and more people with felony records are not going to stop people from choosing a safer alternative to alcohol. The biggest harm from cannabis is the laws against it and wasted tax money used to try to stop it. Look at the history of cannabis and how it became illegal and you will see that the laws are based on racism and corporate greed. Join NORML and stand up for your rights.

He wouldn't be growing if it was legal and regulated. If we want to have oversight on who gets it and to keep the hard drugs away from youth, we need to legilize cannabis and treat it like alcohol. On a side note "Smoking pot gives you the brain functioning of about a 5 year old" is not a fair judgement of all the people that are stuck in the canabis closet. The list of successful people that have addmited use is endless including our president. That claim is nothing more than reefer madness.

This is yet another waste of your tax money that right now we cant afford. Tax it, regulate it and fix our roads and schools. I am sick of seeing my tax dollars being wasted on a failed drug war. PROHABITION DOES NOT WORK! Never has, never will. Look into the truth at norml.org

My tax money should be going to Road Repair rather the wasted on pointless pot busts, Tax weed, fix the roads. I have pot heads as neighbors on one side and drunks on the other and the drunks are the only ones who keep getting the cops called on themselvesevery month.
