Fire Displaces Northland Family

By KBJR News 1

A Northland family is homeless after fire destroyed their rural Cloquet house yesterday.

The family says Rick Gibson was inside the home when the fire broke out.

Gibson, who relies on a wheelchair, was able to escape the blaze.

Fire officials say the home is a total loss.

"It's stressful, but...and it's not cool, but it's not as bad as it could have been--you know somebody could have died," said Elizabeth Gibson, Rick's wife.

The Red Cross is assisting the family. If you're interested in helping them out, the family says a fund has been set up at the U.S. Bank in Cloquet.
