Blaze orange is in fashion this weekend across Minnesota.

Hunters set out to their favorite game grounds to take part in the state's firearm deer season opener.

"We're trying to fill the freezer today," said Gary Gagnon of Duluth. "We can each get two deer, so we're very excited about the opportunity to get out in the woods and enjoy God's creation."

Sportsmen say, you can't beat the feeling of seeing antlers in your crosshairs.

"Quite the adrenaline rush-you're just so excited and you know, you don't really notice anything else," said Justin Edberg of Duluth.

Hunters say there's more to the deer season than just stocking up on venison.

Us group of guys have been hunting together for quite awhile and we have a blast," said Allen Edberg of Fredenberg Township.

When it comes to taking home a trophy, marksmanship is of the essence. And hunters say missing a shot is grounds for trash talking.

"If you miss--you're going to hear about it for sure," said Justin.

Down the road, hunters say they hope they can pass on the fun.

"Later this year, I'll take my seven-year-old out...and it's fun to be able to pass the torch," said Gagnon.

According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, each year hunters harvest about 200,000 deer statewide.

The firearm deer season for Wisconsin opens November 21st.
