Duluth Community Comes Together to Support 23- Year Old Single Mom's Battle With Cancer

Family and friends are coming together Saturday night to support one of their loved ones fighting a battle against cancer.

Nitasha Boyer is only 23- years old and currently undergoing treatment for Stage Four Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

As she works to complete eight and a half months of chemotherapy, Nitasha is also raising a 20- month old daughter.

"She is amazingly strong, and upbeat, and confident. She has her good days and her bad days when she hears news that she doesn't like, it bothers her, which it would anybody," describes Nitasha's aunt.

Fortunately, Hodgkin's Lymphoma has a very high cure rate with treatment.

A benefit at Mister D's tonight hopes to assist this single mom with her extensive medical costs.

Her aunt and benefit organizer Mary Christensen says the outpouring of community support helps keep her niece optimistic, "People are so giving and the economy is so tough at this time, so anybody that donates or any little thing they do is just wonderful. It means so much!"

The spaghetti feed and silent auction tonight is being held at Mr. D's.

The event goes from 5:30-7:30PM, followed by a band that takes to the stage at 9:30PM.

Tickets are $10.
