"Now hiring" is a phrase rarely heard these days on the Iron Range, but one Chisholm based company is doing just that.

Minnesota Twist Drill is expanding, creating more than six dozen new positions.

Things are looking up for the job market on the Iron Range.

"We're already hiring. We're hiring today," said CEO Scott Allison.

While the economy has forced so many Range businesses to shut down or slow down, Minnesota Twist Drill in Chisholm is expanding, creating up to 75 jobs.

"It's a very exciting thing for us and for the Range, a lot of new jobs coming in and it's nice to have a company that you feel secure working for," said salesperson Chris Bergum.

With the help of the Iron Range Resources Board, Minnesota Twist Drill purchased Illinois based Triumph Twist Drill.

"The big thing that we bought was the Triumph Twist Drill name as well as their premiere line which is called the Thunderbit," said Allison.

Allison says the Triumph name will help make the company more successful, leading to even more growth in the future.

"By the end of 2010 we expect to have double in production and double in sales and the sky is the limit from there."

The deal will officially close December 17.
