Now that there's snow on the ground, the animals at the Lake Superior Zoo are thoroughly enjoying the Minnesota winter.

To help celebrate the weather and the holiday season, the zookeepers gave a pair of brown bears a unique "gingerbread house".

It was constructed with cardboard boxes checkered with saltine crackers and peanut butter, a snowy lard covered roof, and fruit and vegetables for decorations.

Zookeeper Lizzy Johnson says the bears seemed to have enjoyed the holiday treat, "one of our bears Trouble actually flattened it all up and licked it up and ate desert first, but Pheobe here is taking her time and slowly enjoying it."

The lions also received a treat today... a meat and lard decorated Christmas tree in their exhibit.
