The campus of the University of Wisconsin Superior officially opened the doors of its new student center.

The $22 million dollar, 90 thousand square foot Yellow Jacket Union took center stage in a ceremony Tuesday afternoon. The new building replaces the aging Rothwell Student Center and was paid for by student fees and gifts to the university. Former students had some advice for current students that will be using the new building.

"Enjoy it, come in and enjoy the space, explore it, it's yours, it's your building you paid for it, you worked for it you've earned it it's yours," said UWS alumni Kimberly Store.

The Yellowjacket Union is environmentally friendly and energy efficient. In fact, the roof of the building had a green roof for heating and energy efficiencies.
