The day cleared up nicely and turned a simple Easter egg hunt into an EGG–stravaganza.

The Lake Superior Zoo hosted its annual celebration today.

Kids were able to hunt for eggs around the entire zoo and turn them in for bags of treats.

Face painting, a coloring contest, and watching animals eat their own Easter treats were all part of the day's events.

Around one thousand people were in attendance, some coming from almost seven hours away.

Holly Henry of the Lake Superior Zoo says this event is very important for the zoo as a whole.

"Every year at this event we gain a lot of members and we show ourselves off as a place to have a really good time as a family; it's affordable fun."
