The City of Chisholm has been named in a civil lawsuit filed by the family of a man shot and injured at a Chisholm bar.

47 year-old Jason Musburger is the suspect charged in connection with the March crime at Jim's Sports Club Bar and Grill that left Cale Nelson and Larry Elj injured and Ed Walberg dead.

Chisholm Mayor Mike Jugovich says Cale Nelson's family served the city in connection with the shooting. The Chisholm Chamber and Jim's Sports Club Bar and Grill are also listed in the suit. Employees at the Bar declined to comment Monday.

Mayor Jugovich says there are several more entities involved, but wouldn't go into specifics.

As for the city, he says, it came as a complete surprise.

"I understand the situation," the Mayor said. "It's never something that you look forward to or expect. But when the server comes and you wonder what's going on, explains to you you're being named in a lawsuit. It's a shock."

Mayor Jugovich says the League of Minnesota cities will represent the city in the lawsuit. He says in going forward the city will take the suit one step at a time and proceed with the proper process.
