Officials involved with the investigation say Jesaiah Carlson is one of the persons of interest identified earlier in the investigation.

On August 29th, the day of the murder, he was in the Eveleth area selling items like children's books and cuttings boards as a salesperson for Allstar Advertising of Duluth.

"We've investigated this case to the point where we've been able to establish probable cause to arrest Mr. Carlson. From this point the county attorney will review the case and we'll act accordingly."

Police say at this point, there's no clearly defined motive for the crime and there's no apparent relationship between the suspect and the victim. Investigators say Carlson was traveling with a sales partner.in one vehicle, but covering different parts of Eveleth and Gilbert and that his partner is not a suspect.

"There was a sales partner traveling with Jesaiah, his timeline has been accounted for,he's cooperated and continues to provide assistance."

Investigators are still seeking assistance from the public as well.
They're looking for a pink Motorola Razr cellphone that belonged to the victim, a men's full-length necktie and a folding knife.

Anyone with information about these items is asked to call authorities.

Carlson was arrested at a relative's house in Two Harbors Monday night and authorities are gathering forensic evidence.

"At this point we can't say definitely that she was sexually assaulted, I can tell you that the investigation led us to probable cause that she was either sexually assaulted or a sexual assault was attempted."
