Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Duluth's A-A-R Aircraft maintenance facility achieved a major accomplishment, completing work on its 100th Air Canada Jet since opening in November of 2012.

The company came in with high hopes and promises of jobs, and so far, the investment is paying off.

"Here we are today, a few short years, with a very vibrant workforce and opportunity to expand," said Greg Dellinger, Director of Govt. Affairs for AAR.

And expanding they are. A-A-R is on track to open a fourth maintenance line in September, adding another 55 jobs to its current workforce of 300. The four lines will run continually through 20-19.

In addition, AAR signed a five year contract with Air Canada to continue aircraft maintenance.

"AAR is here, Air Canada is here. Yet beyond that, that signals to the world that Duluth is on the move and we will continue to make it happen," said Dellinger.

Duluth Mayor Don Ness says the aviation manufacturing sector in Duluth is soaring, in large part, due to AAR.

"We know that there's gonna be this fourth line coming. We know that there's gonna be even further job growth. These are jobs that can support a family . These are jobs that will contribute to our local economy more broadly," said Mayor Don Ness.

Mayor Ness honored AAR officials by handing over the keys to the city.

"It's just a tremendous success story across the board and we couldn't be more pleased with the partnership," said Mayor Ness.

Since opening in November 2012, AAR has had an annual economic impact on the state of $47-million dollars.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development predicts that Aviation Manufacturing in Duluth will grow by 40 percent over the next five years.
