Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Due to the government shutdown, over 1,000 military technicians in Minnesota will be furloughed, including about 180 members of the 148th Fighter Wing in Duluth.
Army Lt. Col. Jon J. Lovald Minnesota National Guard Director of Human Resources sent out the following statement:
"Due to the government shutdown, Minnesota National Guard supervisors began informing military technicians this morning that they are furloughed until further notified.
Approximately 2,100 full-time military personnel support the activities of the Minnesota National Guard. Of those, 1,027 are military technicians who are furloughed.
While the Minnesota National Guard is required by law to follow this Department of Defense furlough policy, it is important that the people of Minnesota know that our citizen -soldiers and -airmen remain ready to respond to state or federal emergencies."
