Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - They say doing something for mother earth is as simple as flipping off a light switch.
For the Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth there are probably a few switches that need flipping to do that.
But that's what the towering landmark did Saturday night for one hour in recognition of Earth Hour, even if it took more than a few moments to shut most of the bridge's lights down.
The international effort asks communities around the world to be proactive with sustainable practices to protect our natural resources.
The Great Lakes Aquarium, the Hartley Nature Center, and the Lake Superior Zoo also took part in Earth Hour.
Duluth leaders encourage the community to continue being conscious about energy conservation.
