Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Northland Constructors has won a $320,200 bid to help Altec HiLine expand, and bring new jobs to its Duluth location.

The company, which manufactures the highest reaching bucket–lift truck in North America, is moving into A.W. Kuettel and Sons' old location by the Duluth Port Authority.

The construction work, which is mainly a paving project, is expected to start October first with the hope that it can be finished by mid–November.

If weather doesn't cooperate, they'll finish in the spring.

Officials say the total expansion is estimated to cost $1 M, and will result in more than 80 new jobs.

"They're expanding into it. There will be more technical people being hired, and there are more production people. They're becoming much busier than they have been," said Duluth Seaway Port Authority Facilities Manager Jim Sharrow.

Meanwhile, A.W. Kuettel & Sons will undergo a $1.8 M dollar expansion and relocation project to a new building in the Duluth Airpark.
