Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- Instead of giving out candy this Halloween, Animal Allies is hoping to give some cats a home.

The shelter is hosting a Spook–CAT–ular promotions event.

Trick–or–treaters can visit the shelter and check out the animals that are up for adoption.

The adoption fee for all cats six months and older is 13 dollars and the adoption fee for a black or orange cats is only five dollars.

Shelter volunteers say they get more cats when the season turn cold.

"Fall is a big time that people are bringing in stray cats because the weather is getting a little colder, people are concerned that the cats are going to freeze outside so they bring them into us so we are very very full on cats right now," said Adoption Councilor, Jennie Connelly.

Anyone who adopts a black dog will get a $50 reduction on adoption fees.
