Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Puppies and Kittens of Duluth rejoice – Saturday is the 5th anniversary celebration of the Animal Allies Muriel Whiteside Adoption Center.

Since 2009, the Muriel Whiteside Center has operated with the goal of providing state of the art care for stray animals.

To do that, they utilize an army of volunteers who take the animals for socializing walks, grooming, and take time to get to know the personality of the animal.

Since the center has been open they have found homes for over 10,700 animals, thanks in part to the Campaign for Zero.

That's a mission to prevent any healthy, treatable animals from being euthanized.

"We want people to come up here to look at the animals, learn what we're doing and to know that they don't have to take home every one of them," said John Gustafson, director of Animal Allies development & communications, "because these animals will find a home at some point."

Spring is the start of what those in the adoption business call "Kitten Season"... the perfect time to visit the shelter for a new feline friend.
