Bayfield, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Due to changing ice conditions the Apostle Island Ice Caves are closing no later than Sunday night, March 16.
The rapidly changing ice conditions make for day–to–day uncertainty about safety. The park service does not want the ice to break up while people are out there.
The Bayfield Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Bureau Executive Director David Eades estimates a $10–12 million boost from the increased winter traffic.
We will keep you posted on when ice conditions force the caves to close if it's earlier than March 16.
