Calvin Township, MN (NNCNOW.com)-- Authorities are investigating a man impersonating a St. Louis County deputy sheriff.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Department, the incident happened in a rural area, 10 miles south Biwabik and Aurora around 3:00 a.m., on Saturday.

A man pulled up to a broken down car of a young woman and tried to get her to leave with him. According to authorities, he was wearing a St. Louis County Sheriffs uniform. The female drove away when she grew suspicious.

He was driving a late 1980's black Pontiac Trans Am without a front license plate with red and blue lights mounted alongside the grille.

Authorities advise any motorists who are suspicious of a person impersonating a peace officer to demand identification and to call 911 to confirm their identity.
