Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- The support for an 18–year old East High School student...who's fighting for her life, continues to pour out.

18–year old Rachel Sandell was diagnosed with liver cancer about a year ago.

Great Harvest Bread Company in Duluth hosted a fundraiser Sunday called "Baker for a Day."

The staff volunteered their time while the owners donated the ingredients.

The owners have held similar fundraisers in the past...but this time, they happen to know the recipients.

"And because of the energy that Rachel alone and her illness has taken on in this town, this has become, an event far bigger than we could have anticipated when we decided to do this and we couldn't be happier that so many people are willing and wanting to be involved," said Liz Kidd, co-owner of Great Harvest.

About 1,000 loaves of bread, 75 dozen cookies, and 20 dozen scones were sold Sunday.

All of the proceeds will go towards Rachel's mounting medical bills.

To put the out pour of support into perspective...the bakery usually sells around 250 to 300 loaves of bread on their busiest days.
