Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Experts with Wildwoods Rehabilitation say a bald eagle hit by a truck in Silver Bay had to be euthanized Monday afternoon.

The eagle received a wing fracture they said was beyond repair.

Wildwoods Rehabilitation says thanks to social media, the eagle would have had a ride down to the Raptor Center in St. Paul where it was supposed to undergo triage.

Experts say they unfortunately see a lot of cases like this one during this time of year.

Experts say the impact between the eagle and the truck was so hard, the truck's windshield cracked.

The eagle's body will be shipped to the National Eagle Repository in Colorado.
