DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - The Duluth man dubbed as the "Ball Slasher" was sentenced today for breaking into a fitness center last year.
Thirty-Two-year-old Christopher Neil Bjerkness had pleaded guilty to 3rd Degree Burglary for breaking into the Chester Creek Academy Fitness Center last Spring.
Wednesday, he was given a stayed sentenced of 27 months.
Bjerkness will be placed in a specialized treatment group home tomorrow and will be under supervised probation for four years.
Judge Mark Munger told Bjerkness any further similar acts could put him in jeopardy of going to prison, or into the sex offender treatment facility in Moose Lake.
Bjerkness has several previous convictions for breaking into facilities to slash exercise balls - an action described as a sexual fetish.
