BAYFIELD, WISC. --- Tens of thousands of people flock to Bayfield, Wisconsin every year for the annual Apple Fest, and for the past 46 years, they've been able to buy from the Rabideaux Family Orchard.
"I was born and raised here, moved to Kenosha and then back to Bayfield and started farming," Allen Rabideaux said. "That was the first year I started."
Apple Fest has turned into a family affair for the Rabideaux family, spanning three generations of apple connoisseurs.
"Now I want to come back. It's a good time here," Bob Rabideaux, Allen's grandson, said. "Lots of people and the whole family involved, so it's a really good gig for everyone."
Apples are obviously the main attraction, but the natural beauty of this small Wisconsin town is definitely hard to ignore.
"Right on the lake. Everything is so beautiful up here," Bob said. "Everybody's nice, friendly. It's not the city it's something different. It's small-town happiness."
"All you've got to do is look around at how beautiful the country is here and the trees are all painted for the fall, the apples," Allen said. "It's just the last big blowout before snowflakes start falling."
Apple Fest 2010 was blessed with near perfect weather, but Allen says the weather is inconsequential; if he grows apples, people will come.
"Apple Fest is always crowded. People always come," Allen said. "Rain or shine, they're going to be here."
