Carlton, Minn (NNCNOW.com) -- The 30th Annual John Beargrease Sled Dog race was facing cancellation, but with the help of some new sponsors the race is back on.
Race organizers announced today that Black Bear Casino will be the title sponsor for the race.
The casino contributed $50,000 for the race.
They will also be sponsoring other events in the upcoming weeks to help raise more money for the marathon.
"We are looking forward to a long term relationship with Black Bear that will bring a lot more consistency to the organization and supplement years to come," said Beargrease Board President Tone Coughlin.
Just a month ago, the race organizers cancelled the marathon because they didn't have enough funding.
Organizers and mushers are excited the race will go on another year.
"I got to be there, I've always wanted to be there, now I'm going to be there again," said reigning champion, Nathan Schroder.
Miller Hill Subaru is also sponsoring the race. The Beargrease marathon is set for Jan. 26.
