Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) - A Billings Park, Superior bridge badly damaged by June's 2012 flooding is about to undergo serious reconstruction, forcing a new route into the park in the meantime.
The bridge leads into the entrance of Billings Park proper from North 21st Street.
City officials say the project will consist of demolishing the existing bridge, and road, then rebuilding it. Crews will fit the bridge with a new, proper–sized culvert to mitigate possible future flooding.
New concrete bridge walls will also be poured, with decorative form liners added for aesthetics.
The project will last from June to early August, say officials.
In the meantime, Royalton Road will be used as a detour into the park.
