Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Garrett Duncan moved into the Bluestone Lofts just last week.

"Everything is brand new, the appliances, even the carpet, the wood floors, everything is just perfect," said Duncan.

Duncan is a junior at U-M-D, and for him the location right across from campus couldn't be beaten.

"I used to be like two miles off campus and that was kind of a pain and now I can bike or walk and it's just right across the street," Duncan said.

Bluestone Lofts is home to 99 fully furnished one two and four bedroom units, and Developer Mark Lambert says the apartments don't just cater to the college crowd.

"We've got students, we've got seniors, we've got faculty, and just regular folks looking for a nice place to live," said Lambert.

The building itself boasts many amenities including

"a workout room, we have a game room, a great room, just a real nice amenity space, you can behind us we have an outdoor patio, a grilling area," Lambert said.

Tenants began moving in two weeks ago, but units are already filling up

"Vacancy rates are at 80% occupancy rate, we're just on track for what we expect and we think we'll be full in the month and a half," said Lambert.

Bluestone Lofts prides itself on offering a safe, secure building to tenants.

"You need a fob to enter- it's electronic, the front door- the community area, the apartments. And we do have video surveillance cameras throughout the entire building to monitor what's going on," said Peggy Walsh, property Manager at Bluestone Lofts.

Just down the parking lot of the building, work is being completed on a "Shops for bluestone" retail complex that will house six tenants.

"We had an opportunity to build something great alongside U-M-D and a great Woodland neighborhood," said Lambert.

An official groundbreaking ceremony will be held on September 24, where the names of the retail unit tenants will be unveiled.
