Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Legendary musician and Northland-native Bob Dylan surprised some viewers of the Super Bowl last night when he appeared in a Chrysler commercial.
They are two American originals that resonate with the Northland, especially the Iron Range.
The commercial plugging the 2015 Chrysler 200 Sedan cruised on to our screens during the second half of the game. The two minute spot featured Bob Dylan's voice and appearance along with his song "Things Have Changed."
The 2015 Chrysler 200 Sedan made its debut last month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The car is the same model Eminem plugged during the Super Bowl three years ago.
Plenty of viewers made the connection that taconite from the Iron Range is used for the steel used to make Chrysler and other American cars.
There was no shortage of comments about the commercial
Dylan Days @dylandays: Bob Dylan spent his formative years on the Iron Range, watching iron ore leave to become Chryslers.
Kyle Lamppa @lamps730: That Bob Dylan commercial won the Super Bowl for me. Wasn't expecting that. #RangerProud #AmericanSteel
Carly Melin @carlymelin: 25% of US Steel's sales go to American auto production. #madeinamerica #dylan #ironrange
Dylan has also appeared in several other commercials including General Motors and Apple.
