Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The southbound entrance to the Bong Bridge between Duluth and Superior was closed for about 40 minutes during the morning rush hour today due to a car crash.

The Highway 2 on–ramp in West Duluth was blocked off by state patrol around nine Tuesday morning.

A one car accident on the Duluth side of the bridge caused the closure.

The driver of the SUV, a 38 year old Superior woman was taken to the hospital for non–life threatening injuries to St. Luke's in Duluth.

An initial investigation revealed that the woman may have been driving too fast for the icy conditions on the ramp.

Officer Curtis Mowers of the Minnesota State Patrol says motorists need to be more cautious during the winter months especially since black ice is common on ramps.
