Bemidji, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Following last week's string of wildfires across Minnesota and Wisconsin, these last few days of rain has been a welcomed sight.
Fire danger across Minnesota is now considered low with the DNR lifting burning restrictions in Pine, Carlton, Aitkin, Cass, and Itasca counties. Burning restrictions have also been lifted for southern portions of St. Louis and Beltrami counties.
Burning permits for these counties can now be written for three days from 6pm to 8am. Variance permits approved by a Forester are also allowed.
However, restrictions are still in place for northern portions of St. Louis and Beltami, Koochiching, Lake and Cook counties. The DNR expects these burning restrictions to be lifted around May 28th.
The DNR warns that we are still in fire season and will be for the next couple of weeks.
The maps attached to this article show which counties are no longer under the burning restrictions and the current fire danger across Minnesota.
