Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Community members marched in celebration Tuesday night to the site of the new Steve O'Neil Apartments.
The event coincided with the launch of a registry to furnish the new apartments.
CHUM is working with a number of businesses so the families moving into the new apartments, or staying in CHUM's new Emergency Family Shelter, will have everything they need.
The project provides 44 permanent supportive housing units as well as six emergency shelter units for long term homeless families.
"This is a real hope to end chronic homelessness, I mean we really hope that this is a step in the right direction for all of these families, that this will be home. So many of them have experienced impermanent in so many ways and moving all the time, and they need all these things to have a home and we don't even think about them," said Cathy Schuyler, who led the blessing.
People will be able to furnish whole apartments, individual rooms, or contribute individual items.
