Cass Lake man to spend almost ten years in prison for Criminal Sexual Conduct

June 17, 2014 Updated Jun 17, 2014 at 11:28 AM CST

Cass Lake, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Cass County Attorney's Office alleges that 61–year–old Francis "Tuffy" Peter Isham engaged in sexual contact with a 9–year–old girl in 2006. Isham was sentenced by the Cass County court to nearly ten years in prison.

The Cass County Attorney says that Isham pleaded guilty to one count of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct in early May of this year. The court says in exchange for that plea, they dismissed a similar charge in Beltrami County.

After completion of his prison sentence Isham will be on conditional release for ten years. He is required to register as a risk level predatory offender for life. He also has to provide a DNA sample to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

The Leech Lake Tribal Police Department and the Cass County Sheriff's Office investigated this case.
