Walker, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A Cass Lake teenager has been charged with arson for setting a wildfire that burned more than 70 acres.
The Cass County Attorney charged the teen with felony wildfire arson on Friday, May 30th.
The blaze broke out Wednesday afternoon just a few miles south of Cass Lake.
It was particularly dangerous because it was very near a blow down area in a forest hit by storms two years ago.
A Sheriff's Deputy identified the teen fleeing from the woods as the fire started.
After questioning the juvenile admitted to intentionally starting the blaze because mosquitos were bothering him.
The Cass County Attorney is requesting the teen be charged as an adult.
Ten homes and two schools were forced to evacuate as a precaution.
The teen will be back in court on June 3rd.
