Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - A Duluth city councilor plans to vie for the seat of freshman Congressman Chip Cravaack in 2012.

Ely Native Jeff Anderson officially announced his candidacy Wednesday for Minnesota's 8th Congressional seat.

He said he envisions bringing increased prosperity to northeastern Minnesota through job growth and technology.

He called his decision to run a reaction to what Republicans have been doing in Washington, specifically Congressman Cravaack.

"I think you have people all across the eighth Congressional district who have buyer's remorse," Anderson said, "who realize now that Congressman Cravaack is not representing the values of northern Minnesota."

Anderson said he hadn't considered a Congressional run until Cravaack's victory, but now is excited to get involved in the debate.
